Transparent portfolio case study — fictional company, real strategy and working prototype

Independent concept project

Reframing an MSP from tool vendor to accountable partner.

A complete speculative transformation created to demonstrate strategy, messaging, interaction design and AI-era content architecture for a small US managed service provider.

01 · Context

The problem is rarely “an old website.”

Small MSP websites often look interchangeable: a stock security image, a long service list and generic claims about responsiveness. The deeper problem is positioning. Buyers cannot quickly understand who the provider is built for, what changes after engagement or how to begin safely.

Fictional before

  • Vendor-led language and generic service categories
  • No clear ideal client or operating model
  • One high-friction “contact us” conversion
  • No evidence of strategic thinking

Designed after

  • Business outcomes before technical features
  • A precise 25–250 employee target
  • Ungated assessment as the first useful exchange
  • A transparent path from assessment to roadmap

02 · Strategy

A service website that behaves like a consultant.

The redesigned experience does more than explain services. It helps a buyer recognize risk, organize priorities and understand the provider’s method before a sales call. The positioning line—“secure systems, clear decisions”—connects operational reliability with executive clarity.

03 · Experience system

Useful now, extensible later.

The prototype uses semantic, crawlable content, focused service language and an interactive assessment that works without collecting personal data. In a production engagement, the same structure can support CRM routing, industry-specific answers, educational resources and an approved knowledge assistant.

Included in this prototype

  • Responsive multi-page experience
  • Interactive scoring and recommendations
  • Accessible navigation and content structure
  • Clear concept disclosure and no indexing

Production extension

  • CRM-qualified assessment summaries
  • Location and industry landing pages
  • Knowledge-base assistant with approved sources
  • Analytics and conversion experimentation

04 · Measurement plan

No invented results—only the metrics a real launch should prove.

Because this is an independent concept, it does not claim client revenue, lead growth or ranking gains. A real implementation would establish a baseline and measure these outcomes after launch.

Qualified conversation rateAssessment completions that become relevant discovery calls.
Service comprehensionEngagement with outcome-led service and process content.
Organic discoveryQualified impressions and entrances for service-intent searches.
